Former Boyzone star, Stephen Gately, makes his stage debut this December when he takes on the role of Joseph in ‘Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’

The Irish singing sensation is to open at Liverpool’s Empire before the run returns to the West End next year.

Stephen is ‘delighted’ to be slipping into the Technicolor Dreamcoat.

“The bottom line is I want to be on the stage and singing - that is what my whole life is about. It is in my blood, I could never give it up".

Stephen’s career post Boyzone has seen him grace the charts with a single from the film Billy Elliot and pick up "Irish Personality of the Year" and "Hero of `99". However, his solo career has failed to match that of former band mate, Ronan Keating.

Joseph last ran for more than two years at the London Palladium, taking over £47 million at the box office and bringing huge stage success for its Josephs - Philip Schofield and Jason Donovan.

No doubt Stephen is hoping Philip and Jason’s successes will rub off on him!
