What’s with the photos?

There’s been much talk of Gaydar’s latest series of homepage photography. With passionate tweets and emails from around the world flooding in, we thought we’d let you know more about the concept behind the photography.

Gaydar’s homepage has been designed to support and showcase the work of up and coming gay photographers and artists, and the photography will not always be wholly representative of the guys on Gaydar. Just like the writers of Emmerdale don’t claim the show to be representative of Northerners or Queer as Folk of the gay community.

Currently featured on the homepage is Paul Gunn’s work, commenting on the work Paul recently posted on his blog:

“I remember when i was a teenager looking at the images of men that were available at the time I thought, I wish one day i could be the one to produce such imagery. I remember seeing Calvin Klein ads and being inspired by the eroticism, beauty and strength of the male form. Recalling that feeling and that time makes me feel extremely honoured to think that potentially I may now be inspiring other people. I hope to portray men indiscriminate of sexuality as i believe sexuality is quite fluid and varied for everyone but also to show the strength, beauty and eroticism of men as I saw it as a teenager. So thank you Gaydar for pulling out a warm moment of childhood memory and giving me the chance to share my images with the world. I hope they inspire and create healthy desires.”

The conceptual idea is to show work from all corners of the Gaydar globe and we have five photographers busy preparing the next series of work to be showcased on Gaydar, all with varying styles of photography and differing ethnicities. If you would like to suggest a photographer you admire and would like to see featured… get in touch, we’d love to hear from you!
